Plastic surgeons in California have found a new way to keep plastic surgeons happy, with plastic surgery, especially for the plastic surgery community, being increasingly promoted by the medical establishment.
According to Plastic Love, a group of plastic surgeons in the San Francisco Bay Area, the industry has become more transparent with regards to what plastic surgeons can and can’t do with plastic.
The plastic surgery industry is not only the largest in the United States, but it is also the biggest provider of cosmetic surgeries in the world, the group wrote.
But it seems that there is still a lot of misinformation and misconceptions surrounding plastic surgery procedures.
“The industry is being very open about what they can and cannot do with their plastic,” said Dr. Stephen Stryker, Plastic Love founder and president.
The group wrote that it has been promoting plastic surgery as an acceptable alternative to the surgical profession for more than two decades, and that the public perception of plastic surgery is being misinformed.
“A lot of people don’t really understand what it is about plastic surgery that we do,” Dr. Strykers said.
“For people to really understand that, they have to look at the history of the plastic surgeon and the history and the training that the plastic surgeons have and the knowledge they have,” he added.
“You know, I think that for most of us, there is a very deep connection with the surgeon and they are the source of the knowledge.”
The group added that the industry is promoting plastic surgeons as part of the medical community and is also helping doctors who work with plastic surgeons.
“We want to help the medical profession, the medical industry, to help people understand that there are very, very qualified plastic surgeons out there that do really amazing work,” Dr Strykser said.
Stryker said plastic surgeons are also being recognized by some of the largest medical institutions in the country, including Harvard Medical School, the University of California, Los Angeles, University of Pennsylvania, University College London and the University Hospital of Grenoble.
The medical profession is also working with the group to make the procedure less stigmatized and less dangerous, Dr Starykser added.
The organization is hoping to get the medical world to recognize plastic surgery and also to educate people about how to get a job in the field.
“It’s a really great opportunity to get everyone’s attention,” Dr Aliza Krieger, a plastic surgeon in San Francisco, said of the association.
“There are many, many ways that we can make this more acceptable, more safe and more sustainable,” she said.
